I thought it’d be fun to share some things I’m into right now! I love hearing / seeing other people’s interests, and I’m always getting new ones from my friends and fam. Also, I found a building I’m obsessed with, sooo if I ever open a boutique, I know the place I want! I showed it to Ryan today. It may need a little work, but it would be a dream to see it come alive (even though I’ve only seen the outside of it haha!).
1. E FAY JONES
E. Fay Jones is the architect who designed the chapel where Ryan and married, Marty Leonard Chapel in Fort Worth, and I am a huge fan. I love his work because light, shadows, and reflections play a major role in the ambience. Jones described our chapel’s design as an “instrument for nature’s music as light and shadows move and change throughout the day.” He was very passionate about his work, a student of Frank Lloyd Wright, and from Arkansas (Go HOGS!).
2. PENNY & SPARROW
Abe has been listening to Penny & Sparrow for years, and I’m finally checking them out. They’re a folk singer/song-writer duo from Austin, who have also collaborated with JOHNNYSWIM, Drew Holcomb, and others. I adore the song “Bones”, beautiful love song of being with someone to the end. Their music has a nice flow, and it’s the perfect chill music with meaning.
3. THE BELOVED HOTEL
Ryan and I are heading to Mexico in less than two weeks! My friends, Kristen and Summer, raved about The Beloved resort in Playa Mujeres, and we have the opportunity to go before I start work in the Fall. It’s a boutique resort for couples only and sounds & looks dreamy. I found some dresses from Zara, Asos, and Nordstrom for the evenings. Now, I just need to get a base-tan so I don’t fry like a lobster.
what I’m packing…
4. THE RED RISING SERIES
Ok, I love fiction. Love, love, love. I can hole up for hours reading. I’m not even sure how I stumbled upon the Red Rising series since the first book was published in 2014, but I think it must have been recommended on an Amazon chart. It’s definitely in the science fiction section in the library, and it reminds me of Hunger Games, Star Wars and Thor all mixed into one – and sprinkle in a little bit of Braveheart and Gladiator since it has the main character fighting for freedom for his people. There are five books in the series so far, and I just started the fourth. Who wants to join me on Mars?!
5. ON CLOUDS
I was on the hunt for a white shoe, and I love these On Clouds (true to size)! I tried a couple different On Clouds, but this specific one won. They fit like a glove, are great for cardio, and, most importantly (haha!), they look good!

6. FOSTER GRANT SUNNIES
My friend, Lauren, wore some awesome black aviators one day, and she said they were less than $10. Of course, that send me on a hunt for them, and I found several pairs I had to get. I’m a sunglasses freak, but I refuse to spend a ton of money on them. It’s either sunnies by this brand on Amazon or these from Walmart: tortoise square, gold square-shaped, and aviators.

7. BUTTERMILK SKY PIE
One of the best things about where we live is that there is a pie shop really close by – Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop. I have two favorites: the Apple & the I-40 pie: pecans, chocolate chips, a sprinkle of toasted coconut, and a smooth pecan pie filling combined in a sweet shortbread crust. To die for!!! Plus, you can get them in a big or mini size.
That’s a wrap for this month. Oh, wait! I also love these black wide-leg pants. Super comfy for a work or casual outfit. You can even pair them with ballet flats for the Fall. I have all the links for this outfit at the top of this post!
