My sweet girl is 5 today! I found out I was pregnant with her a few months after my mom passed away and my brother’s diagnosis with cancer & arm amputation, so it was a soothing balm to my raw heart. A gift from God that I am forever thankful for. She’s blossoming into a little girl, and it is bittersweet – especially as I spent the morning looking through photos of her little life here on earth.
Originally, I sought out to write a song for her, a lullaby (which I still want to pen), but it turned into more of a poem…for now.
free spirit flower
my hands held a tiny angel
and helped my heart heal
a sweet stone of remembrance
that His love will never fail
knit together by our Maker
one stitch at a time
his wondrous creation
destined to be mine
free-spirited and flying
full of faith and grace
you remind me of my mama
i see Heaven in your face
you’re a flower in a field
swaying in sunlight
a tune twinkling in your soul
praise filling up the sky
he’s singing over you
songs of love and might
your beauty is found in him
my tender, precious child
